Dear HYI alumni,
I am writing to ask for your assistance in promoting a fellowship opportunity for students in Asia to pursue a master's degree at Harvard. The Harvard-Yenching Institute offers a full fellowship for a master's degree in Harvard's Regional Studies - East Asia (RSEA) program plus the first year of a doctoral degree program (in humanities or social sciences with a focus on East Asia) at an approved university. This fellowship is for Asian nationals who are committed to pursuing a Ph.D. as preparation for an academic career. The RSEA master's program at Harvard offers additional course preparation and mentorship for promising students in order to make them more competitive for admission to leading Ph.D. programs.
There is no direct fellowship application. Rather, candidates should apply for admission to the RSEA program and will be automatically considered for the fellowship (they do not have to be affiliated with one of the HYI partner universities in Asia).
We hope to advertise this program widely in Asia, and would greatly appreciate it if you could share information about this fellowship opportunity with any students who may be interested in the program. A flyer promoting the program is attached - please feel free to forward it. Students can learn more about the RSEA program by visiting its website (
http://rsea.fas.harvard.edu).
Thanks in advance for your time and assistance.
Best,
Lindsay
